The Woman’s Literary Club of Holland
Established 1898
About the Club
In 1894, 19 women in Holland seeking higher education formed the Bay View Reading Circle, studying a correspondence curriculum “for intellectual growth and cultural advancement.”
Upon completion of their studies, in 1898, Anna Coatsworth Post, along with twenty-six other women, established the Woman’s Literary Club, one of the longest-running associations in Holland, Michigan.
More than 127 years later, the Woman’s Literary Club continues to recognize the importance of contributing to a strong Holland community that supports continuous learning and community outreach.
