The Kate Garrod Post Scholarship

The Kate Garrod Post Scholarship

In the Spring of 2026, the Woman’s Literary Club will award funds for higher education for the 110th time.

Beginning in 1916, funds to pursue higher education were first given as loans to young women by the Kate Garrod Post Education Committee. Kate Garrod Post, a founding member of the Club, was a fierce advocate of higher education for women.

Advocacy for higher education continues today with the annual award of the Woman’s Literary Club Kate Garrod Post Scholarship, administered by the Community Foundation Holland/Zeeland

Students interested in applying for the Woman’s Literary Club Kate Garrod Post scholarship can find information about the application process and scholarship criteria on the Community Foundation Holland/Zeeland website.  The scholarship is awarded annually in April.

Collaboration with the Community Foundation of Holland/Zeeland promotes access for and continues the Woman’s Literary Club mission of “intellectual improvement” for members of our community, past, present and future.

2025 Scholarship Recipients

Dear Woman’s Literary Club,

Thank you for investing in students like me! I feel honored to be chosen to receive this scholarship and grateful for the financial support that it means. Currently, I am studying abroad in Ecuador! It has been a wonderful experience, but it has meant that I haven’t had as much time to apply for scholarships for next year. In this award, I see God is taking care of me through the generosity of my community, even while I’m far away from home. I’m looking forward to coming back in the fall for my senior year and am excited about the future that lies ahead! Receiving this scholarship means I can focus less on paying for college and more on taking advantage of the opportunities during my senior year and after I graduate. Thank you once again for your generosity!

Dear Woman’s Literary Club,

Thank you so much for selecting me as your 2025 scholarship recipient! I am extremely grateful for the impact that your generous support will have on my education. Your support allows me to pursue my studies with greater focus, relieving some of the heavy financial pressure that accompanies higher education. I am currently enrolled in an accelerated graduate program for speech-language pathology, and your contribution will help me continue pursuing my passion for supporting children and adults with a wide range of communication challenges. I am extremely excited for my upcoming clinical year where I will have the opportunity to complete internships in both educational and medical settings. Your scholarship means more than you know and will directly advance my commitment to making a meaningful impact in the lives of others. I appreciate this so much, thank you!
